We have all been moved in one way or another by the senseless act of hate that took place this week.
While many of us were just starting our day, thousands of lives were changed forever.
It has been said that if the terrorists plan was to create chaos to destroy the nation, their plan failed. In the midst of need and suffering, Americans are uniting.
People by the thousands have either volunteered, gave blood, donated items, cooked a meal, lit a candle, or said a prayer.
This is a bond and a spirit that one can find only in the United States of America.
Despite our dark history, we still have the brightest future. There is no other reason why people leave all behind and risk their lives for a part of the "American dream." No, things are not perfect here; nor are they elsewhere. Racism, police brutality, poverty, and drug abuse are not just American problems, but human problems. These things are a result of living in a fallen world.
It breaks my heart to hear "this is what the White man deserves, " or "this doesn't affect me as a Black man...America is for the White man."
I beg to differ. This massacre affects us all. Mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, sisters, brothers, neighbors, and friends were lost on Tuesday. These lives that were abruptly ended were of Black, White, Latino, Arabic, and Asian desent, but these lives were all American.
We were all created in our Father's image. Hating all Muslims will not protect our country from Terrorism.
The only way to conquer hate is through love. The only way to truly conquer terrorism is also through love.
The image that we need to show the world is that we, as Americans will not allow hate to consume us.
Hate makes us weak and leaves us vulnerable. The way to fight this terror is together as one people. Not as Blacks, Whites, or Arabs...but as Americans
