How do we apply this text to our everyday life?
Remember the song "You're nobody until somebody loves you?"
Society has put in our heads that a single person is a flawed person. How many times have you heard the gossip sisters say "...that's why she doesn't have a man." when they speak of someone's shortcomings?
Buying into the belief that a person is incomplete without a mate, single people are lowering their standards.
Instead of spending time in prayer and waiting for God to send their future spouse, people are looking for love on the Internet, in the grocery store, at the health club and even in church.
The mindset of anything is better than being alone is what creates broken people, single parent homes, and abuse.
How many people do you know that are in a miserable relationship, but they refuse to leave?
How many women invite man after man into their beds, hoping to find love through sex, but only end up with other problems?
Some women even go so far as to use deception to try to get love. Getting pregnant by a man that not ready for a commitment is one method that shady women use to keep a man in their life. Sadly, the truth cannot come from a lie. These women are doomed for a life of single parenthood and low self esteem.
These lost sisters need to realize that they were made for a purpose by a God that makes no mistakes. Only when we focus on Him and accept nothing less than the blessings that He chooses to give us, will we ever be truly happy.
Physical pleasure can be found anywhere, but as it is stated....it lasts only for a season. Sex does not make a relationship, and should only be entered into after the commitment of marriage anyway.
It may seem like it's taking too long for your future spouse to come to you, but trust that God has a plan for your life. We can't see true love through our faded vision of what TV and movies show us. Once you have love for God, and yourself, your blessings will come.
